Claire is a freelance documentary filmmaker and educator based in Traverse City, MI, with a global perspective shaped by their childhood in Amman, Jordan. It was there that they first picked up a camera, driven by a desire to explore and make sense of the complex cultural landscapes that formed their early understanding of the world.
After graduating with a degree in photo and video journalism from the University of North Carolina, Claire spent five years as a video journalist at the Los Angeles Times. Their reporting is committed to illuminating critical social issues, with a particular focus on storytelling around incarceration and mental health. Currently, Claire is in post-production on two feature-length documentaries.
Claire's work has been widely recognized, earning awards from some of the most respected organizations in journalism and media, including a Los Angeles Emmy, the Online News Association, Picture of the Year, and the Webby Awards. Their documentaries and visual storytelling have been honored by the National Press Photographers Association, the Livingston Awards, and many others.
