Claire is a freelance documentary filmmaker and educator based in Traverse City, MI. They grew up in Amman, Jordan, where they first picked up a camera with the desire to explore and make sense of the complex cultural landscapes that formed their early understanding of the world. Nearly twenty years later, their work is still shaped by fervent curiosity and belief in the power of listening without judgment.

After graduating with a degree in photo and video journalism from the University of North Carolina, Claire spent five years as a video journalist at the Los Angeles Times. Their reporting is committed to illuminating critical social issues, with a particular focus on storytelling around incarceration and mental health. Currently, Claire is in post-production on two feature-length documentaries.

Claire is an Emmy award winning director. Their work has been recognized by the Online News Association, Picture of the Year, the Webby Awards, the Scripts Howards Awards, the Los Angeles Press Club, the National Press Photographers Association, the Livingston Awards, and others.
